The FA's statement also confirmed that in addition, no promotion or relegation will take place between these steps.
Kennington Football Club joins many other clubs up and down the country directly affected by this news, and while we acknowledge that difficult decisions had to be made, we also express our disappointment in the decision itself - and its haste – in denying the club promotion to the SCEFL Premier Division for the first time in its history.
While non-league football is rightly of less pressing concern at this time of extreme challenge for the nation, we feel a sense of injustice has played out in the season being written off without due reward.
We proudly end 2019/20 in top spot of the SCEFL Division One table with 55 points from our 26 league games in only our second season at the level – a fantastic achievement.
Cup success was also brought to the club with runs in both our inaugural season in the FA Vase, and more recently, the SCEFL Challenge Cup, which saw two Premier Division sides defeated in making the semi-final for the first time.
We would like to put on record our thanks to the players - who have entertained us from the first kick to the last – the management team, our committee; sponsors; and landlords, Ashford United – whom without we would not be in the position we are today.
Finally a big thank you to our incredible supporters – we’ll need you more than ever next season as we look to come back even stronger and go again!
Rest assured, we will not let this unprecedented decision hinder our club’s ambition moving forward.
Stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2020/21.
